Humans In My Life - Sakira

"People say I can't seem to sit still or even relax. I always feel there's something to do, I don't even know what but there is always something. My head is always pounding and even when I am sat still my brain is constantly whirling like a roller coaster. One time at an Indian head massage the lady physically couldn't touch my head as she could feel my veins pulsating .

It's weird how I have become this active-non stop-keep on moving kinda person because I came out into this world still. Very still, not a sound, not a cry, not screaming to the top of my lungs like Zakia (my twin sister).

My feet met the world first, maybe thats why I love running . My feet look after me, they have taken me on a lot of adventures, secret places, helped me climbed trees, got soaked in the sea, ran marathons, swam in oceans, jumped so high and landed safely. My feet carry all of me and I am proud of my feet.

Sometimes they have a mind of their own my feet, I find myself in places I never knew existed! They are always first in and first out and always lead the way. The only time they are still is in prayer. I neglect them but they always work without me trying.

I wear size 3 shoes as an adult but I wore size 5 as a kid! Now I know you are thinking that's very weird!!! No my feet didn't suddenly shrink.
My Abbaji had the idea my feet will grow into a size 5 but my feet stopped growing long back as I did!
I guess my feet has enough space to breath. Without realising in many ways my feet were being cared for and now they take care of me".

From me to you: That saying 'my feet are my only carriage' fits perfectly with your life. Often, we forget how blessed we are to have working limbs and to have our own carriage which can take us to where we please is such a blessing. It's funny isn't it? These two limbs, as funny as they look, or as weird as their shapes are, big, small or meaty, they allow us to stand balanced on the surface of this god given earth so we can appreciate all the wonders. I hope your feet do not give up on you and I hope they take you on more adventures to see the unseen. I hope my feet can join your feet on these adventures and we can have a feet party with those who join along the way. Freedom and victory for feet!!!

Humans In My Life - Zakia

"I have always been a person who always got what she wanted in one form or another and I feel very grateful for this and appreciate the little things in life. Having said this I am not a spoilt person and the things I want in life are simple.

When I was a child, I have always been a girly girl, loved wearing dresses and playing with dolls unlike my other sisters. Growing up in a deprived area and being a member of a large family you make do with what you get, like hand me downs.
It's every girls dream to have a dolls house to play with, unfortunately my parents could not afford those kind of toys for us, it was more of going out playing in the park until dark.

I longed and dreamt of having a dolls house which I could house my funny looking trolls and dolls.

One day an opportunity at school came up at wood-work to make animals out of wood and make a storage for them.
I put my thinking cap on and built a wooden house for a sheep which fit the project requirement.
I made my sheep house with a pointed roof with a chimney and windows so the sheep can look out and painted it pink just like a dolls house.
My sheep house was displayed in school and I longed for the that term to end quick, so I could take it home.
Once I got my sheep house home, the sheep disappeared and my trolls and dolls took residency in the wooden house. So finally I got my dolls house, it gave me much joy as it did my twin sister and we played for hours and made fire places and beds out of paper and made up stories.
My dolls house didn't quite look the ones in the shop but I made it and took joy in playing with it. When I look back I realise this was a good lesson. When you think out the box you can alway get what you want and in my case it was a dolls house which started off as a sheep house".

From me to you: I think old is gold and I wish I had grown up in an era without gadgets and technology. However, I can only experience the simplicity of your hay days through your stories.
Seeing you as I have grown up, I can see how hard you work to make a living. Time to time you treat yourself and why not? You value things more when you work hard for it and like the dolls house you made, the effort you put into it, and the pride you had at the end is exactly the same now when you accomplish something or get a new handbag or a pair of shoes. It shows how grateful you are even for the smallest things. I am glad you experienced the life where things were not handed on a plate because you have taught me to appreciate everything I have. You've taught how to make do with what I have and with patience and endurance, I can get what I have longed for.

Humans In My Life - Nazia

"The fear of fear.

I have always wanted to be someone who can be viewed as a leader or a role model in my industry and one of the ways was to be noticed.
There is a fear of drawing attention to yourself.
But when you need to stand out you have to swallow the pill of what scares you. To be a public speaker requires courage. It needs practise and it needs feelings to grab the audiences attention.

At the beginning of fhe year I enrolled in a weekend of public speaking and it was amazing. But I couldn't use their system so I let my character and my own personality shine up a room in front of 400 people.
What did I learn: EVERYONE IS SCARED OF SOMETHING so all you have to do is stand out and grind it out"

From me to you: I have seen you gradually grow into what you have become today. You have always been motivated to change your own life and the lives of others. It's nice to see you as a bubbly person and this is what makes you seem so confident. Despite the hurdles in your life, you have come out and reached hundreds and you have taken them on a journey. A few years ago, you would not have been able to do this. I say, take one step at a time, have faith and things will come to you. You have done so well so far. Keep it up.

Humans In My Life - Tahid

"I dream that when I'm 60 I can be a pensioner".
Tell me something else!
"What else can I tell you? That's my dream. Fine listen.
I came to England in May 1969 as a child. I liked it. I enjoyed going to school and I came to learn english. I was looking forward to becoming an educated and professional person but I couldn't as I had to look after myself and work. I couldn't go into further education. But I am happy with my life and my family".

From me to you: I think you have come really far. You came to this place with nothing, with very little English, yet you have managed to always succeed in the smaller things in life. You never put yourself first and you have raised a family, always provided for them and gave them shelter. This is the most important thing. This is what makes you an amazing father and a wonderful man.

Humans In My Life - Azizun

"I really miss being with my three sisters and two brothers before my marriage. We would eat together and laugh together and these days I miss this a lot. Before my marriage I didn't miss much but after, I miss everything".
From me to you: I wish I could see you as a young woman. All I have seen you do throughout your life is raise a family and tend to the needs of your children without ever complaining. I wish I could fulfil one of your wishes and reunite you with your siblings. But two of them are in a place far better than this world. Stay strong.

Humans In My Life - Salma Razia Khatun

I am back!!!
I have been pretty quiet for a while now on this and it's time I make a come back and keep up with my writing and expressing myself. So I'm going to do something a little different. I've given myself challenges in the past, making sure I post every week or every few days. This time I'm going to challenge myself to post EVERYDAY throughout November.

This challenge will be a bit like 'Humans of New York' but with a twist. It will be more on a personal level and I will call this 'Humans In My Life'.
Each day will be dedicated to someone in my life who has had an impact on me or has just been there whether I have needed them or not.

My layout will be a bit like this: a paragraph which I have made these people send me, their picture and a few sentences from me to them.

When I sent my friends messages, asking them to send me a random paragraph on themselves and a picture, curiosity was killing them. But I wanted to keep this a surprise. So I hope it catches them as a surprise. They just have to wait for the day I will post on them.
So these messages will vary and there is no theme. Some have written from their heart and some from their mind. Not only does this challenge allow me to get to know the people in my life a bit more but it will allow them to see what I think of them.
I hope this works out.
I'll get started with me.

"There's nothing amazing about me. I'm just a young woman who loves to laugh, make others laugh and travel. I seek peace and adventure and like everyone in this world, I yearn to see the unseen.
I have made my loved ones experience stomach pains from laughter and I have caused my loved ones heart ache from my wrong actions.
I wish I could take some weight of my shoulders and turn back time to change some events in my life but growing up makes me appreciate life's small and big mistakes. It has made me who I am today.
I see myself travelling and leaving footprints in places where no one has set foot on, reporting from different parts of the world and being known as 'Salma that amazing journalist'. I see myself being a cool aunt to the children of my siblings and a helpful daughter to my parents. I see myself raising a small family and having my husband support the decisions I make in my life and joining me on the journeys I make. But for now, I am content where I am in life and I am very grateful for everything I have. P.s: I love camels and donkeys".
